Every week, I feel like I've aged fifty years between what I have to do and what Soo-won always drops in our laps. I don't know if it was harder teaching Ash, or if it's harder working for Soo-won.
He's got a good heart, but he is very.... cunning. I can't get him to not look at the future, or make plans, especially when it comes to protecting people.
Mm. Remember when we knew him as a merchant before he told us what he really was. Merchants have to think on their feet, know what to sell and not to sell, all to get the best kind of reward.
[A huff.]
He thinks like a king, for sure, but he's also very much a merchant. He's really not selfish, though. That's what surprises me.
I think you're right. It's just... surprising to me, even having guessed it couldn't have been good, that he would earnestly be the way he is. Maybe he isn't completely.
Though the ones I know from home who have been beaten down by the worst parts of the world all have a wall of thorns, or the sharpest claws, and only serve themselves and a trusted few.
[Because he's the same way. The world's torn him down, took away his loved ones...and yet here he is, happy with life, and looking to the future.]
For most, things like that would weigh on you, and change you for the worst. But someone like him...despite everything, he puts others before himself. I think he's just a young man who truly loves everything the world has to offer.
