It wasn't totally on purpose! But I guess I've had some practice. [glad they're in dorky pirate gear together.] It should still be good though if you're hungry.

[He lifts the pastry up at Sora briefly, in show and in thanks, and then has a small bite off the edge. His other hand shields his eyes over his brows.]

You must be a good climber, too, to get into the crow's nest. I remember being young once, and full of energy.

[it's a tasty pastry i hope blanca enjoys.]

You say that like you're really that old. [he rolls his eyes.] Didn't I tell you I'm from an island? Lots of trees.

[but even as blanca starts to answer he'll begin to climb down...]

[papasha]

[He turns and walks over to the nest to wait for Sora at the bottom. Please don't just down on top of him just because you're use to floating with your scrawny legs out in KH world.]

An island boy, hm? Very different from me. My home was landlocked. Only lakes and rivers for us.

[reconnective]

[and that's how blanca died. in all seriousness he climbs down all the way and jumps down the last couple of inches, mindful of his burns still.]

I can't really imagine that. We've always lived right by the ocean. Our island's kind of small but there's lots of caves and trees and stuff. Plus you could always walk right out the front door and the beach was right there.

[papasha]

[He laughs some as Sora drops down.]

That sounds nice. I moved to the Caribbean for the beaches, too. It was warm and relaxing.

[Oh. He's finished the pastry. Haha! Big boy.]

That's where you went? [wow. something he recognizes.] I've been there, too. This place actually reminds me of it a little. Pretty sure the ship we were on is a little bigger though.

[now that he's on the ground though, he looks up at him and gives a slight grin. and also now that he's close enough, blanca will probably pick up on a garble of emotions that's a mix of excitement, curiosity, and maybe a little worry.] How're you doing? After Saturday, I mean.

[papasha]

Yes. The Bahamas.

[He looks surprised when Sora claims to have been there, and this gives Sora a tickle when they're close. And then it fades gently into something a bit more somber.]

I'm maybe a little better than some. How about you?

[reconnective]

[there's a blip of understanding.]

I think I could probably say the same thing. There are some people that took the last couple of days pretty hard. I don't know what to do about that yet.

[he leans back against one of the support beams of the ship then, staying close.]

I actually wanted to come find you after the trial but I thought maybe everybody needed a break for a little while. There's some things I wanted to talk to you about.

[papasha]

They did.

[It seems Blanca is pretty earnest in his feelings of sympathy, even if there's a very strange levelness to his emotions.]

Oh? I'm all ears.

[reconnective]

You said something during the trial that made me wonder something. ...about if somebody had a job in this competition. Does that sound familiar to you?

[an elimination job, he means.]

[papasha]

Ah. [He peers at Sora's face for a moment.] It seemed the most plausible, if the leaders aren't doing it themselves.

I suppose it seems more plausible considering... it isn't unlike what I use to do.

[reconnective]

[he's about to continue and actually get to his point, but it's almost as if his thoughts truly stop and change direction.]

...what do you mean?

Back home. I would take jobs for payment. Someone here could be taking the job of helping one of the leaders win in return for memories.

Even if they aren't... I've heard the leaders are getting back memories, too... That could be reason enough for some, don't you think? Helping them get memories back so we can figure out how to end this.

[reconnective]

[stop distracting sora challenge!!] This is the first time I've heard about the leaders getting stuff back. Who told you that?

[papasha]

Something like that, yes. In a way.

[haha]

I'm afraid I can't say. I know that doesn't put me in high standing. It wasn't one of the leaders, though.

[reconnective]

[...he just kind of sighs and there's a blip of disappointment. and also mild ??? at blanca because wow, would not have guessed.]

It's fine. You're not the first person to tell me something and say you can't tell me where it came from. [but that doesn't seem to deter him.]

Anyway...I just wanted to tell you you're right. People are being assigned to kill other people by their leaders. I don't have proof that that's exactly what happened last Thursday, but the set-up was too similar to what happened with Virid. He's the one who told me he was asked to kill Hajime.

[papasha]

[He exudes a little amusement at Sora being put-out with the lack of clarification. There's understanding too, though.

But then the somber heaviness from before returns.]

Do you know if it's leaders, or leader?

[reconnective]

Not sure about that either. [which is annoying.] It'd make sense if it was just one leader, but at the same time that wouldn't leave a whole lot of people to suspect.

[...] I talked to one of the leaders yesterday, too. They found out what the disturbance actually is.

[papasha]

It wouldn't.

[But hm. Rotating leaders doing killings is very Bad News, he thinks. His worry is rippling the surface of his placid emotions.]

What is it?

[reconnective]

[Bad News Indeed.]

A monster. It's eating the nova and that's why we're losing everything.

[haha.]

[Pretend he's closing his eyes very intensely.]

...And do they know why the monster is eating it? To survive? To get stronger?

They just found out the other day. They're still trying to figure out what it really is and how to stop it, but at least we know it's really something else.

It lines up with what Virid told me, too. That there's something bigger we should be worried about.

I don't want to tell too many people yet, but the leaders are willing to talk about it if you ask them, I think.

[papasha]

I was wondering if we'd ever find out what the bigger picture happened to be.

[The smile he gives Sora is pretty thin.]

I'll see if my leader will talk about it, to see what they say. Did this person tell you whether or not they had... a job? That let them find that out. Or did they just ask the right questions?

Mm-mm. All of my information came from Virid before he died, about being asked to do it and about something else being out there. I only found out about the monster from the leaders.

[...there's a tentative blip of wariness, but he decides he trusts blanca enough to continue.]

Someone told me that the killers are still out there. They know one of them, but they wouldn't say who it was. Just that the killer knew things that we didn't, and that they might learn more now that they've gotten away with it.
