I think if it is their choice, it would be different. If they decide they would not like to have those memories. But then what happens when they begin accidentally stumbling over discrepancies? When something feels like it's missing.

Then they want to know what has been hidden from them, even if they had consented themselves, and they search for it. It really isn't something to play around with.
